The C-023 has a dual purpose. It is a hand-held, yet powerful RF detector
and it is also intended for those monitoring mobile phone usage.
Many users will use the equipment to conduct a sweep, on an impromptu basis,
of their work area or intended business meeting venue, The C-023 detects RF signals
automatically (up to 5.6GHz) in an instant by audio and visual means. Where necessary
the earphone can be connected so the sweep can be conducted discreetly. RF activity
detected can be verified by switching to the 'confirm' mode, partly demodulating
the detected signal. As many users will want discreet protection from surveillance
there is a 'vibration alert' mode in the system: the user simply leaves the unit
in this mode, in their pocket, and the unit vibrates when approaching RF devices.
The mobile phone detector will detect both GSM900 and GMS1800 (GSM phase 2+)
for voice, data, fax, SMS and GPRS traffic. It is also intended to protect the
user from mobile phones that may have been adapted to operate as room listening
devices or even as the remote controls in explosive device systems.
